accessibility?<\/p><p>Universal accessibility is defined as the character of a product, process, service, information or environment that, with equity and inclusiveness in mind, enables any person to perform activities independently and achieve equivalent results.<\/p><p>Universal accessibility, is when a product, a service, information or an environment is good for everyone.<\/p><p>Universal accessibility allows everyone to to do the same activities without assistance.<\/p><p>Universal accessibility allows everyone to be to be included.<\/p><p><b> For example: <\/b><\/p><ul><li>A person in a wheelchair can enter easily through an entrance without stairs with a door that opens by itself.<\/li><li>A person with an intellectual disability can read simplified text<\/li><li>Employees are trained to provide good service to people with a disorder on the autism spectrum.<\/li><\/ul><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><strong>There are 4 types of universal accessibility <\/strong><\/h4><h5><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5><h5><strong>1 Universal accessibility <\/strong><strong>in places<\/strong><\/h5><p>Universal accessibility in places, is accessibility in buildings, but also outside.<\/p><p>For example, in a park, the benches and paths are accessible.<\/p><p>There are mandatory accessibility rules, but it&#8217;s not enough.<\/p><p>We need to work harder to create places that are good for everyone.<\/p><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><h5><strong>2 Universal accessibility programs, services and jobs<\/strong><\/h5><p>When programs, services and jobs are accessible, everyone can participate.<\/p><h5><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5><h5><strong>3 Universal accessibility of communications<\/strong><\/h5><p>Everyone has the right to have information.<\/p><p>Everyone has the right to understand information.<\/p><p>Everyone has the right to have accessible information.<\/p><p>For example, information can be simplified, in audio format, in Braille or in large print.<\/p><p>Information must be accessible on television, in documents and on social media.<\/p><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><h5><strong>4 Universal accessibility training<\/strong><\/h5><p>Service employees need to be trained to be more aware of the reality of people with limitations.<\/p><p>Service employees who are well-trained can provide accessible services.<\/p><p>People with disabilities can have a positive experience.<\/p><p>Well-trained service employees can also have a positive.<\/p><p>It is true<\/p><p>When you build without barriers, when you train employees, when we provide accessible history<\/b><\/h2><h4><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/h4><h4><b>2010 &#8211; The project LIENS begins<\/b><\/h4><p>The project LIENS was created by 3 Montreal-based organizations:<\/p><ul><li>AlterGo<\/li><li>the Comit\u00e9 r\u00e9gional des associations pour la d\u00e9ficience intellectuelle, le CRADI<\/li><li>the Regroupement des organismes de promotion du Montr\u00e9al m\u00e9tropolitain, le ROPMM.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p>CRADI is now called the Comit\u00e9 r\u00e9gional pour l\u2019autisme et la d\u00e9ficience intellectuelle. The ROPMM is now called D\u00e9Phy Montr\u00e9al.<\/p><p>The project LIENS helped people with limitations\u00a0 to speak up.<\/p><p>The project LIENS helped people to participate at public meetings of the City and the boroughs.<\/p><p>Project LIENS helped to create a group of advocates able to speak out about the reality of people with disabilities.<\/p><p>The spokespersons made known the important need to achieve universal accessibility in Montreal.<\/p><p>The project LIENS lasted 3 years.<\/p><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><b>2013 \u2013 The beginning of the Collectif A.U.<\/b><\/h4><p>In 2013, the Collectif A.U. was created.<\/p><p>The Collectif A.U. gave trainings to organizations.<\/p><p>The Collectif A.U. helped organizations do more universal accessibility in Montreal.<\/p><p>The Collectif A.U. helped organizations request more universal accessibility in Montreal.<\/p><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><b>2015 \u2013 First AU360 Day<\/b><\/h4><p>The Collective A.U. organized the AU360 Day<\/p><p>There were 130 people interested in making leisure more accessible.<\/p><p>The 130 people identified urgent actions to be done in Montreal for the 4 kinds of universal accessibility:<\/p><p>1. Universal accessibility in places<\/p><p>2. Universal accessibility of programs, services and employment<\/p><p>3. Universal accessibility of communications<\/p><p>4.Training in universal accessibility<\/p><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><b>2016 \u2014 Second AU360 Day<\/b><\/h4><p>In February 2016, Formation AlterGo organized the AU360 Day with the help of Centraide of Greater Montreal.<\/p><p>There were over 100 people interested in making leisure more accessible.<\/p><p>People spoke of actions carried out for universal accessibility in Montreal.<\/p><p>People spoke of\u00a0 other urgent actions to be carried out for universal accessibility.<\/p><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><b>F\u00e9vrier 2019 \u2014 GO <\/b><strong>Pour un Grand Montr\u00e9al accessible<\/strong><\/h4><p>GO was a great meeting on universal accessibility in Montreal.<\/p><p>183 people of 120 Montreal organizations came together.<\/p><p>People spoke of universal accessibility in sport, leisure and culture.<\/p><p>People have spoke of the most important actions to be achieved for universal accessibility in Montreal.<\/p><p>This great meeting served to make known even more universal accessibility.<\/p><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><b>February 2020 &#8211; New objectives<\/b><\/h4><p>The Collectif A.U. has new objectives.<\/p><p>The Collectif A.U. wants to explain to the population of Montreal what it is, universal accessibility.<\/p><p>The Collectif A.U. wants to explain to the population of Montreal why universal accessibility is important.<\/p><p>The Collectif A.U. wants to express the needs in universal accessibility for the 2021 municipal elections.<\/p><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><b>October 2020 \u2013 Collectif A.U.\u2019s position<\/b><\/h4><p>For the 2021 municipal elections<\/p><p>The Collectif A.U. wants to implement many ideas to get the word out about universal accessibility in the 2021 municipal elections.<\/p><p>The organizations of the Collectif A.U. want to organize public speaking engagements so that everyone hears about universal accessibility.<\/p><h4><strong> February 2023 &#8211; Establishment of a governance structure for the Collectif A.U.<\/strong><\/h4><p>The organizations of the Collectif A.U. met to define statutes and precise missions for certain members of the Collectif.<\/p><h4><strong>May 2023 &#8211; 11th day of the Collectif A.U.<\/strong><\/h4><p>On May 18, 2023, members of the Collectif A.U. gathered for the 11th Day to form working groups and move forward on projects.<\/p><h4><strong>September 2023 &#8211; Relaunch of the awareness campaign<\/strong><\/h4><p>In September, Collectif A.U. relaunched its awareness campaign to talk about accessibility for all.<\/p><h4><strong>November 2023 &#8211; 12th day of the Collectif A.U.<\/strong><\/h4><p>Collectif A.U. members met to take part in workshops on accessibility for all.<\/p><h4><strong>February 2024 &#8211; 13th day of the Collectif A.U.<\/strong><\/h4><p>The Collectif wants to make plans for 2024.<br \/>The Collectif held elections for the orientation committee.<\/p><h4 style=\"font-family: 'Noto Sans', sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bolder;\">October 2024 &#8211; 14th day of the Collectif A.U.<\/span><\/h4><h4><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); font-size: 1rem;\">The Collectif wants to make plans for 2024.
